Theo asked one or two of us English wargamers to join and to post some images of our stuff. My main interest is in ancient wargaming, particularly if it involves Romans. I almost exclusively use 28mm models. Here are my latest efforts.

I decided to make a few command stands this week. My EIR have a rather nice command stand, using some of Foundry's commanders and 'hangers-on', and my Sassanids have the rather nice Aventine Miniatures King's elephant, but my 3rd Century Romans just had a rather lonely general on horseback. I'd painted up a chariot for my Britons ages ago, but had never got around to basing it up properly.

Models in the first two images are from A&A Miniatures.

These models are from Warlord Games, and were inspired by an illustration in an Osprey book, as a tribute to the late Angus McBride.

And Keith from Aventine Miniatures had given me the makings of a standard bearer to accompany the splendid Pyrrhus model they make. So I assembled and painted that up too, and then based it, together with Pyrrhus:

All models follow my usual method - white primer, bright basecoats, Army Painter 'Strong Tone' painted on, LBMS transfers, and then a squirt of Testors' Dull Cote. Grass is Woodland Scenics, tufts by Silflor.

Cheers,
Phil

Thanks!

They're not actually dipped in it - I paint it on with a 10mm flat brush. But yes, they're 'dipped' - just a basecoat and then a coat of Army Painter, a coat of Dull Cote and they're finished.

This is the best 'dipping' I've seen and the animal skins are stunning. Lovely.

Phil's Gallery Empty Vikings

Hi Lads (and Theo),

Here are the Vikings I've been working on. Think I still need to do some work on them - their clothing isn't rich enough, but I can't be arsed right now.
